About Us Volunteer Center Employment

What is work-study and General Student Assistance?:

Work-study jobs are available to students who have applied for and have been granted financial aid packages that include Federal or Michigan work-study awards. Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive work study awards. Students can earn up to their awarded amounts and cannot use their awards for off-campus employment.

General Student Assistance or GSA positions are for all students, including international students and those who do not qualify for financial aid. These positions are funded through department budgets. Student earnings through GSA employment are not limited. (CMU Frequently asked Student Employment Questions)
