Ryan Lambert

Ryan Lambert, graduate student from Montgomery, Illinois has played a key role in the development and execution of Chip Away Malaria, a service initiative that helps to purchase malaria prevention bed-nets. Malaria impacts hundreds of millions of people, predominately in Africa.

Ryan has been engaged in several activities that have helped to raise awareness and funds for Chip Away Malaria. This past semester, Chip Away Malaria partnered with the Detroit Pistons to sell tickets at a discounted rate and a portion going towards purchasing bed-nets to fight malaria. Also, we held a Youth Basketball Clinic and attended the Clinton Global Initiative. Chip Away Malaria was presented an $11,000 check to Nothing But Nets at the home finale Pistons game. Over 1100 families in Africa will be able to live another day from our donation.

Ryan believes that volunteerism is important because life is about giving, serving, and helping others. By volunteering, an individual is demonstrating those values and thus making communities stronger.
