Monica Lewis
Monica Lewis, a CMU student from Inkster, Michigan, first became involved with volunteering at CMU through Volunteer Central, the Volunteer Center's online opportunity database. Throughout the fall semester, Monica has helped unload a food truck, passed out food at the Red Cross Food Pantry, participated in an Alternative Weekend Break and volunteered at the CROP Walk. Volunteerism is important to Monica because it helps society and it helps to create a better community for all.
Fall 2008 PES 603 Sport Corporation Class
The PES 603 Sport Corporation class for the Fall 2008 semester has participated not only in "Operation Gold Out: Selling Out for Charity," but also collected additional canned good items in Alma to donate to the WCZY Canned Food Drive in hopes to fill a Mayflower truck. Students from the class also helped out at the WCZY drive on Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd. The class also donated toys to Toys for Tots as a part of the "Santa's Lil Hoopers" Basketball Tournament, and volunteered at the 5K run on homecoming, as well as the 5K run hosted by the Center for Global Sport Leadership.
As evident by the long list of accomplishments, the members of the class are deeply committed to public service. The Sport Administration graduate students looked to using sport as a greater good for the members of the Mt. Pleasant community. The class wanted to help make the holidays a little better for those in need, and are glad to know that they can walk away from this knowing they did just that.
Members of the class include: Greg Adamson, Jenna D'Alie, Kotaro Fujita, Don Gillette, Kelly Higgins, Jessica Hughes, Eric Karbowski, Jacquie Lacek, Ryan Lambert, Bryan Langan, Cheyenne Luzynski, Ashley Matuzak, Rhona Mays, Justin O'Connell, Ernie Rivers, Kyle Ryan, Brian Schafer, Christian Sinnott, Audrey Thwing, Veronica Tucker, Tracy Vogelsong, and Matt Walderzak.
